Discover a new skill, revisit an old hobby & take part in a fun, mindful and tactile activity. We’ll show you wheel throwing, hand & slab building, surface decoration and glazing. Pottery lessons in Norwich…
Whether you’re an experienced potter or a beginner, our pottery courses and workshops are perfect for all abilities and experience levels - including nervous newbies and those wanting to move their creative practice in a new and exciting direction.
Our 6 week courses and workshops approach pottery from all angles. We will lead you step-by-step through some of the many and varied ways of working with clay. Including hand building, wheel throwing, a range of different surface decoration techniques and glazing.
You could make a whole host of beautiful ceramics from small dishes and ceramic tiles to pots, planters, vases and much more!
We have sessions available in the day that can fit around the school pickup and in the evening to fit around work - 9.30 am to 12 pm / 1pm to 3.30pm / 5.45pm to 8.15pm.
You will find a friendly and relaxed atmosphere in our Norwich Pottery Studio with supportive and talented staff who will make your experience a success!
We have the tools, experience and the know-how to support you to create stunning pieces to decorate your home or give to loved ones as a gift. All you need to do is bring yourself along with a trusty apron and get stuck in, as materials are provided. You’ll go from asking ‘How do I throw a pot’ to ‘How can I design my own pottery range’ - watch yer back Emma Bridgewater!
Fuel your creativity with a selection of hot and cold drinks, as well as cakes and snacks available to purchase from our in studio Coffee Bar.
Who knows, among you may be a true potter at heart, even a possible future contender on ‘The Great Pottery Throwdown’!
What to expect…
Pottery For Beginners
Over 6 weeks you will be supported by our expert tutor in all the techniques that make pottery so much fun! Including; slab build construction, using coloured slips to decorate work, hand building techniques, sculpting clay, adding texture, an introduction to glazing and of course, an introduction to throwing on the wheel!
We make sure each week has a different focus, meaning that no two courses are the same, allowing you to continue your practice should you choose to re-book (we’re confident you will want to keep going once you get started!) another block of 6 sessions.
So why not give pottery a go? It can be a brilliant way to switch off from the hustle and bustle of life as well as a fabulous creative outlet. Who knows what you will be able to create?! You may even surprise yourself!

Hen & Stag, Birthday & Special Occasion Pottery Workshops
During these creative pottery workshops you and your group will get the chance to choose hand building a design and try your hand at the throwing wheel, or you may decide to design and decorate a pre-fired ceramic piece in a pottery painting workshop.
These hands-on workshops are a great opportunity to focus on a creative and mindful activity that everyone in your group can enjoy. Even the most inexperienced among you will be amazed at what can be produced. Who knows, amongst you may be a true potter at heart!

Included within the packages are two firings and glazing which means you will create a completed and unique handmade piece that you can use in your own home or even give as a gift!
Corporate & Team Building Workshops
During these pottery or painting workshops you and your team will get the chance to choose between hand building a clay design and try your hand at the throwing wheel, you may decide to design and decorate a pre-fired ceramic piece in a pottery painting workshop OR one of our step-by-step painting workshops may tempt your team.
These creative, hands-on workshops are a great opportunity to focus on a mindful activity that will make a change from the usual work environment. Connect with your colleagues in a friendly and sociable way and even the most inexperienced among you will be amazed at what can be produced.
